Should I Invest in Pay Per Click, SEO or Both?

When it comes to online visibility, you generally have two options: SEO or pay per click advertising. Depending on how much money you are willing to spend and how patient you are willing to wait for results will help you determine which option is right for you. To establish great SEO, it can take months to see results, while with pay per click, you see instant results. Find out below which option is best for your practice, or if you should invest in both.

SEO Only

Establishing great SEO takes a lot of hard work and patience. You can either take the internet marketing company route when it comes to SEO, or you can hire a specialist on your own. The most cost efficient route would be to go with an internet marketing company. On the other hand, if you hire your own personal SEO specialist, your results may be achieved sooner, however, at a higher cost. Good SEO is determined by quality content, links, website speed, Google local, photo optimization, meta descriptions, title tags and more. Unfortunately, it can take months to start seeing your pages rank for certain keywords. If you are in a competitive area, like Los Angeles for example, good SEO is even harder to achieve. When deciding if you should choose between SEO, or pay per click, you must decide how much of a budget you have and if you are willing to drop a lot of money if you are aiming for a competitive area.

Pay Per Click Only

PPC only is great for practices who want immediate results and have a bigger budget. Pay per click costs are determined by the keywords and how competitive of a keyword it is. For example, appearing for dental implants in the middle of nowhere is going to cost significantly less than dental implants in Los Angeles. Your internet marketing company will most likely have a service for managing your PPC account, which can save you a lot of hassle. They will set everything up for you and handle it the entire time. All you need to do is sit back and answer the phone calls that come in because of the campaign. If you are going after a competitive area, want immediate results, or have a bigger budget, PPC is for you.

Both SEO and Pay Per Click

This is a great option for clients who want both immediate results and long term results. It can take months before good SEO starts leading the results of search engines. Until the SEO goals can be achieved, this is where pay per click advertising comes in. Pay per click makes your website show up at the top of results (under “sponsored”) for the keywords you want to pop up for. PPC can get pricey in the long run, which is why it is a smart idea to also invest in SEO for long term results. Practices with a bigger budget are perfect for this option.
